Ofsted Report- June 2024

Dear Parents/Carers,
I am pleased to let you know that the report from our recent Ofsted inspection is now available.
The process was extremely positive and useful in terms of looking at school improvement and the inspectors were very thorough in their inspection of our school. We are delighted that Ofsted has given Bassetts Farm Good and Outstanding judgements.  This is a fantastic achievement within the Ofsted framework. Particular strengths seen were Behaviour and Attitudes that was rated as Outstanding and Personal Development also rated as Outstanding.

The inspectors talked very positively about the ethos of the school and how, “from the moment pupils’ start they develop a love of learning for life”.

I would like to use this opportunity to thank the hard-working, talented staff team at Bassetts Farm who provide your children with a great education. Due to this hard work, inspectors noted thatThe school has high aspirations for all pupils….. the children show exemplary attitudes to their learning…. and pupils engage very well in their learning

In addition, we have created an environment where Relationships are positive between adults and pupils” and "Pastoral support for pupils is strong."

An important aspect of the Ofsted framework is a deeper focus on the wider curriculum looking at subjects beyond English and Maths. At Bassetts we have always ensured our children have arange of opportunities through an ambitious curriculum”
The inspectors have commended where pupils make links between current and previous learning” and that within art “the portraits older children produce are of a very high standard.”

Other highlights from the report include the following:

  • Pupils with special educational needs are supported well
  • The pupils curriculum for personal development is exceptional
  • A love of reading is visible across the school
  • The pupils development of character is exemplary
  • There are a wide range of extra-curricular clubs
  • Pupils develop curiosity through learning outdoors
  • Pupils are focused and respectful
  • Facilities such as the music studio and discovery room enhance pupils’ experience and enrich their learning.

Areas to enhance further and develop:

Just one area was identified to help us to continue to improve. This area was for us to continue to ensure the curriculum is implemented effectively to ensure some pupils make even better progress.

Thank you to every member of the school and the wider community that continue to make Bassetts a wonderful place for children to learn. Also, thank you to parents and carers for your welcome support. We will continue to build on our successes whilst maintaining our ethos of a school where we develop, “A Love of Learning for Life.”
